Quick Challenge

Messages

In class we had a quick draw challenge. The Single theme was messages and we were to draw a picture portraying that in any way we saw fit. We were given magazine and Newspapers for a stock resource. I'm on the internet a lot, so of course the first thing I thought of was IM, E-mail, and all of the social medium sites out there. I tried to focus on the feelings and common phrases that come up when I think of the computer and how it affects me, and others out there.

Christmas Card Project

Happy Holidays!

This holiday season, we were assigned the project to create a card design. We had to keep in mind how different the drawing would be once scanned and printed out. We also had to draw it big enough for it to look alright shrunk down. For this project I used a combination of ink pen, colored pencils, and markers. I tried to give the picture a homey feeling. A warm kitchen, stuck in the middle of decorating some festive cookies.

Self Portrait

Self portrait based on famous artwork

This is the self portrait assignment I was assigned to do. The famous art work I choice to use was "Crying Girl 1963" by Roy Lichtenstein. As I have said in my artist statement, I enjoy comics. So I thought going for a pop art comic style in the painting would be the best way to portray myself. I used tempera paint and permanent marker in the work. I enjoyed working with the bold lines and colors of the work.
