Extreme Expression Masks

This assignment was to create a mask out of paper mache. Our teacher wanted us to do extreme expressions, like the classic theater masks. Mine didn't turn out very extreme. . .more flirty! I focused mainly on the details, to the contrast of the light and dark colors, to the outline of the purple. I wish I would have pushed myself to make more of an dramatic expression, but at the same time, that type of work doesn't go well with my personal style of art.

Quick Challenge #3

This challenge was themed "elements" after a bit of thought, I knew I wanted to do something like this. When I thought of elements, I tried to think back to times in my life where one of the natural elements stuck out to me. One place was a gaveyard. I've always liked the feel graveyards give you (in the day of course!) For me, it is a quite, peaceful place. Where the people of the past can return and rest in the earth below. So an image of a run down graveyard came to mind. It is very easy to let the earth take back that place if you don't take care of it.

Quick Challenge #2

This creative challenge had the theme of "dwelling". This is defiantly not my best work, though it had a few good points. Many liked the bold colors and outlines the markers gave the work. My concept however was apparently weak. I wanted to show that you never know what people are dwelling on in their mind. Apparently that is not something that first comes to mind when viewing this art work. The markers also didn't blend like I expected, which was disappointing. I will plan out my drawings better in the future.

Grid Drawing

This project was a lot of work, but I think it paid off. We were given a picture of a celebrity (I do not know who this is)  with a grid over top. It took me about a week I think, I'm pretty happy with it. There a lot of things I could have done better however.

Elongated Wire Sculptures

The goal for this project was to create a elongated human figure. We had to display an emotion in just a pose and simple color. I choice to do one of sorrow, or worry. Firstly because it is an emotion I know all too well  in my daily life. Second, this emotion is a pretty powerful one by itself, so I was sure I would have an easy time showing it in my work.

Linear Perspective

As the title suggests, we were working with point point and two point perspective. Not only did we have to display this skill, our teacher also wanted us to put some elements in it to make it ours. Be it our favorite place or favorite things. Sense I am a comic book fan, I decided to put in some of my favorite marvel characters and references.  One the far left you can see America's favorite, Captain America, chatting to Wolverine. On the far right you can see a clueless Peter Parker.

Timeline

This assignment required us to use tones and symbolism in this timeline piece.  We had to sum up our lives so far, picking out the important events that effected us the most through the years. I am pretty happy with this project. I used sharp outlines along with soft ones. Can you understand what each of the images mean?
